Parents' Council

The Parents’ Council of Ardscoil na Tríonóide was established in September 2007 reflecting a long tradition of working in partnership with parents through previous generations in Scoil Eoin and Scoil Mhuire.

The Education Act 1998 gives a statutory foundation to the work of the Parents’ Council.

“The parent association is the structure through which parents in a school can work together for the best possible education for their children. The parent association works with the principal, staff and the board of management to build effective partnership”.

Education Act 1998 26 (1)

All parents are part of the Parents’ Council and the school actively promotes parents to become involved at committee level. Partnership between home and school is important because with positive and active partnership your child gets the best our school can offer.

Throughout the years, the Ardscoil na Tríonóide Parents’ Council has been able to express their views on school policy and promote parental involvement for the benefit of students. The Council has also supported learning and teaching by being able to contribute to the strengthening and development of the school’s infra-structure. The Council also liaises with students each year to organise the Debs’ reception which is a highlight event for students and their families.

As a council we meet approximately 6-7 times a year, we share ideas, get involved over a cup of tea and make new friends. You can let us know you are interested in becoming involved by making contact with any of the parents on the current committee listed below or by contacting the school who will put you in contact with the committee.

Sandra Doyle – Out-going member of Ardscoil na Tríonóide Parents’ Council.

Sandra was a member of the Parents’ Council for many years and as she was leaving she had this to say about her experience on the Council committee.

“It was a pleasure to be part of the Parent's Council. It provided a wonderful opportunity to liaise with fellow parents and link in with staff, management and students at Ardscoil na Tríonóide. It gave a positive insight into the ethos, values and core beliefs instilled in our children throughout their time at school. I sincerely hope that such important values remain significant throughout my own son's venture into adulthood”

Parentline
Parents can google and will often find information but there is nothing like talking to a person who is there to give all the time and space needed to hear your story and explore your situation.

Parentline is a helpline for parents. Somewhere to pick up the phone and talk to a trained facilitator who will offer a sympathetic ear; in confidence and who won’t judge (either parent or child). No matter how big or small the problem Parentline will give support, information and guidance.
The helpline is open Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. It is free and no appointment is necessary – just call 1890 927277 or 01 8733500
Whatever the issue – It’s OK to ask for help.
The attached statistics will show you the work Parentline does.
