Global Citizenship @ Ardscoil

Ardscoil na Trionoide have recently been awarded their first Global Citizenship Passport. This award, granted by WorldWise Global Schools aims to reward and encourage all school communities that take steps to live up to their responsibilites to the environment, the earth and all her citizens.

The Global Citizenship Passport is awarded to schools that display their commitment to sustainable living and justice for all in the following areas:

Curriculum

Extra-curricular

Teacher Capacity

Student Capacity

School Leadership & Policies

Community Engagement.

On 24th of May 2019 the Ardscoil Global Citizen Group in conjunction with the Student Council will take part in the second Global Day of Action to demand that our political leaders rapidly implement policies that will reverse the the damage that our careless energy and waste disposal practices are causing to the environment.

We urge all students and teachers to join us in a protest march on Friday 24th @ 12.00.

The inaugural meeting of the Global Citizenship Group took place on 12/03/2019. Wiktoria was nominated as chairperson and Rachel volunteered to be secretary. Amongst the issues addressed were our application for the Global Citizenship Passport, the possibilty of promoting Fair Trade, the need for explanitory posters over the recycle bins that the school has recently installed, the research of solutions to the over use of single use plastics and an Ethnic Appreciation Day.

We would like as many teachers as possible to support us in our campaign to reduce the use of single use plastics. Below you can find links to two programmes that will explain to your students the importance of being responsible in this regard:
